pleasure.
Ventura County

The County of Ventura is indeed a great Southern California destination. Located 70 miles from Los Angeles and 200 miles from San Diego, Ventura has a lot to offer. Located along the beautiful Highway 1, Ventura is protected from large crowds and maintains that off the beaten track feel. Oxnard and Ventura are the two largest cities in Ventura County and offer many fun and interesting destinations.
For land lovers, Ventura offers activities for all ages and interests. Excellent restaurants and shops line the avenues, along with many venues for the arts. From ArtWalks to frequent street fairs, Ventura maintains a dynamic schedule of festivals and events throughout the year. Ventura also offers plenty for those that enjoy the great outdoors. There is an abundance of trails for hiking in the area, world-class golf courses are seemingly around every corner, and the beautiful uncrowded beaches are run all along the Ventura Coast.
Arguably, the best way to visit Ventura is by ocean-going vessel. The views along the coast from San Diego or Los Angeles are spectacular, along with the Channel Islands a few hundred miles off the coast. Two of California’s best marinas are located in Ventura County, so be sure to dock here to explore Ventura County. Many of the areas best destinations mentioned above are actually located on or near Ventura County’s Ventura Harbor or Channel Islands/Oxnard Harbor.

Ventura Harbor

Ventura Harbor is located right off the 101 and is easily accessible from any city in Southern California. They contain world class docking facilities and welcome all visitors ranging from weekend trippers to those that want a longer vacation. The Harbor is close enough to the city center for a nice night on the town and still far away enough for some nice rest and relaxation. Ventura Harbor is also the official gateway to Channel Islands National Park as well as the harbor to Ventura Harbor Village.

Ventura Harbor Village is the perfect place to get the Southern California experience. Located a few minutes walk from the docks is a plethora of restaurants, shopping, and recreation. There are plenty of waterfront views for a nice stroll as well as 33 acres of authentic Southern California to explore. Ventura Harbor Village is also an excellent venue for performances and concerts. Averaging almost nine events per month, it is well worth it to plan ahead to catch a concert or happy hour when it is needed most. The Marina also has many great deals on rental equipment. Runabouts, kayaks, and fishing boats can be rented on an hourly or daily basis at great rates. A nice kayak on the harbor at sunset is an evening well spent. Overall, the Village is an excellent place to spend the weekend, or even longer.

Channel Islands/Oxnard Harbor

The Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard is located less than 10 miles south of Ventura Harbor and is just as high in quality. It is less than an hour’s drive from Los Angeles and is located a few minutes drive from the Ventura city center. Channel Island harbor offers many activities and services that rival the best harbors in California.
Channel Islands Harbor is a resort and recreation area, with dive centers, kayak rentals, boat charters, yacht clubs, sport fishing, and nine full-service Marinas providing berths for 2,150 boats. It also hosts a Maritime Museum and a Visitor's Information Center loaded with information about the surrounding area. There are scenic bike paths nearby, as well as three golf courses within six miles for those wanting to spend some time outdoors. Channel Islands National Park is also a short boat trip away from this harbor, and offer extraordinary views and experiences.
